Underground Currents
Underground Currents was an installation at the Neukölln, U7-line metro station in Berlin, which made use of the wind generated by the trains. The ten windmills on the platform functioned as power collectors as the draft of the approaching trains made them spin. The generated electricity was collected and used for the transmission of informative, critical, poetic, and utopian audio recordings about alternative forms of economies, technologies and societies.
These contributions were also available in a free Currents & Stories newspaper at the platform kiosk for people to take away and read on their journeys.
